Model Type

Every model is given a model type that specifies what sort of devices it will be used for and applies certain restrictions to various features in the platform based on those devices’ usage and capabilities.

There are three model types:

  • Display: used for displays running embedded Linux with onboard telematics connectivity.
  • Telematics: used for devices running embedded Linux with onboard telematics connectivity. These devices do not incorporate a display.
  • Connected Logger: used for scaled down devices running embedded C with onboard telematics connectivity. These devices do not incorporate a display.

Restrictions

Each model type is associated with certain restrictions, applied to every model of that type, that prevent users from entering settings that will not work on that type of device.

See the pages on alerts, CAN databases, and modules for more info.
